As we keep adding functions to digital cameras it makes conserving and maintaining battery life that much more important. One of the most costly parts of owning a digital camera is the battery expense , keep reading for tips how to start saving on battery costs. To start lets examine the greatest source of power drain.
As you probably already figured out it is the view screen. One way to conserve battery power is to completely turn off the LCD screen on your digital camera. Use the view finder billions of pictures have been taken this way over the years. One more large energy drain is the flash. Natural light is the way to go , better pictures , longer battery life. Only use the battery power for the flash when you absouletly have too. Try to control how much you use the zoom this will also drain your battery. It is just logical to assume that you will use up battery power by zooming in and out. Find the zoom setting you prefer and stick with it.
Some other points you are able to do to make your battery last longer are::
*keep your camera turned off when not in use and turn on any energy saving features.\*In cold weather, keep your camera and batteries warm in your jacket till you’re ready to use them. The cold drains batteries really rapidly.
* Keep your batteries away from direct sunlight and extreme heat.
* here is a big energy drain , constantly looking at picture you took in the view screen. Decide if you want the picture or not and use the delete button at that point .
* Whenever possible use the usb cable or ac adapter to power your camera. Most digital cameras have an adapter that enables you to plug directly into a energy point. It only makes sense that this will improve the battery life and may even recharge your batteries.
